I just been at a blog where the owner displays a badge to donate to her favorite charity. So I am trying to do the same thing because "It's A Good Thing"! And today I want to talk about one of my favorite charities which is the ROANOKE RESCUE MISSION.

The Roanoke Rescue Mission is more so much more than just a shelter.

This Organization has lots to offer for woman, man, and children. The Mission serves more than 900 meals a day; every night, an average of 284 men, women, and children received shelter; last year, over 3,000 families received vouchers for clothing and shoes.

The Rescue Mission operates a Christ-centered, 12-step recovery program for men. This twelve-month residential program includes service assignments, peer accountability groups, pastoral care, retreats, step meetings, daily devotions, discussion groups, social outings, life skills classes, and socialization skills as part of a total program of personal transformation.
Referrals to the program come from a variety of sources, including the courts, the prison system, the Veterans hospital, health and welfare agencies, local pastors, and other substance abuse programs.

Jubilee Acres is a retreat in Roanoke County operated by the Rescue Mission for children. During the summer months, the Rescue Mission operates a day camp for the children who reside in the Family Shelter. While the children are cared for at camp, their parents can concentrate on finding permanent housing and employment.
This camping experience gives children a safe place to explore their feelings. With a ratio of one adult to two children, Camp Jubilee gives new meaning to the phrase "quality time."

If a person is in need of a doctor or need prescriptions filled the Mission makes it possible through their doctors who volunteer their time.

This is one of my favorite Charities and it is my wish that before you buy that next fast food meal to think about if you perhaps could sent a dollar or two their way :)
